About HPPI: HPPI is a development organisation working for the holistic development of the under-privileged
and marginalised people in rural and urban India. We work through social development and poverty alleviation
interventions by coordinated, strategic approaches focusing on school education and teacher education, life
skills, improved livelihoods, health and sanitation, women empowerment and environment protection.
About the project: HPPI in partnership with European Union is set to launch Project Sashakt – Assam,
starting from 15th January 2025. This initiative aims to build the capacity of women cooperatives and 2,500
women artisans in the handloom and allied sectors across Kamrup, Dhubri, and Chirang districts.
Role Overview: The Market Development cum Value Chain Specialist will play a critical role in strengthening
market linkages, developing sustainable value chains, and promoting the branding and marketing of
handloom and craft products. The person will work closely with women cooperatives, artisans, and other
stakeholders to identify market opportunities, optimize production processes, and establish robust value
chains to ensure higher incomes and socio-economic upliftment
Minimum Qualification and Skills:
1. A postgraduate degree in rural marketing, MBA-Rural Development, any other relevant field, or a
similar discipline would be preferred.
2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in rural entrepreneurship development preferably in
the handloom sector
3. Strong understanding of rural livelihoods, women entrepreneurship, and the handloom sector.
4. Proven track record of establishing market linkages and developing successful marketing strategies
5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
6. Fluency in English and Assamese is crucial; knowledge of additional regional languages is a strong
advantage
7. Direct experience in marketing, import/export, and relationship management.
8. Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and a team player; able to work independently.
9. Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time.
10. Organized and able to create multiple timelines, budgets, and schedules
