About the role
We are hiring a Senior Communications Officer (SCO) to drive our social media efforts and content development, ensuring our mission to reduce and prevent anaemia reaches diverse audiences. The SCO will primarily focus on managing and enhancing Fortify Health’s social media presence, developing engaging content, and implementing strategies to grow our reach and impact. They will also contribute to the creation of high-quality communication materials that showcase Fortify Health’s expertise in chakki atta fortification, supporting programmatic teams as needed.
The SCO will collaborate with all departments to craft compelling content that highlights Fortify Health’s achievements and aspirations. This is a cross-cutting role that will involve generating innovative ideas and ensuring our content is both impactful and aligned with our organisational goals. The SCO will need to be responsive to trends, monitor performance metrics and refine approaches based on audience engagement.

The Senior Communications Officer will work closely with and report to Fortify Health’s Communications Manager.
Responsibilities and activities
The Senior Communications Officer will be responsible for the following activities:
- Social Media Management
- Content Strategy: Plan and oversee Fortify Health’s social media presence to engage and grow our audience.
- Content Creation: Review and refine content for platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to ensure resonance with target audiences.
- Performance Analysis: Evaluate the effectiveness of social media campaigns and adapt strategies for optimisation.
- Team Collaboration
- Programmatic Support: Work with programmatic teams to draft posts that accurately represent Fortify Health’s programmes.
- Idea Generation: Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and generate ideas for content, campaigns, and collaterals that effectively support Fortify Health’s goals.
- Strategic Communications Support
- Collaterals Development: Assist the Communications Manager in preparing communication materials that reflect Fortify Health’s expertise in chakki atta fortification.
- Innovation: Research trends and best practices to improve communication strategies and suggest innovative approaches.

Candidate profile
Requirements
- Professional proficiency in English.
- Expertise:
- A Bachelor’s or higher degree in any field.
- At least 2 years of work experience in a communications-related role or other relevant field.
- Communication: You should have strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create content that is accurate, clear, and engaging for a variety of audiences.
- Execution: You should be able to plan, manage, and deliver communication projects while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Collaboration: You should have strong interpersonal skills, and be able to collaborate effectively with a range of people of different backgrounds and seniority levels.
- Digital Expertise: You should understand how users engage with social media platforms and how to effectively leverage those platforms to achieve communication goals.
Desirable attributes
- An understanding of how users interact with social media platforms and what Fortify Health can do to use those platforms effectively.
- Experience in creating multimedia content.
- Familiarity with design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), tools like Mailchimp and website development platforms (e.g., Weebly)
- Experience working with remote team members.
