Senior Research Analyst, Security Studies

Carnegie India

Carnegie India is looking to hire a Senior Research Analyst in Security Studies. This is a full-time role at Carnegie India's offices in New Delhi. The role will seek to support Carnegie India's Security Studies research.

The research focuses on India's role in regional and global security and publishes informed analyses particularly on its relationship with China, the securitization of borders, and the geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific. It also takes a leading role in organizing Carnegie India's Security Studies Dialogue, an annual event that brings together scholars and practitioners to discuss critical geopolitical issues and India's policy responses to them.

The analyst selected for this role will continue this focus and should have a strong aptitude for in-depth policy research, stakeholder engagement, and leadership. We are looking for candidates with 5-7 years of experience addressing key policy challenges related to India's foreign and security policies. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of published work. In sum, we seek someone with innovative ideas and a passion for expanding the research scope of Security Studies at Carnegie India. The selected scholar should also be able to collaborate with other members of the team, pivot to address ongoing projects that require immediate attention and work with the larger Carnegie India team to organize events as needed.

The position requires an advanced degree (master's degree or higher strongly preferred) in international relations, strategic studies, public policy or related fields with a keen interest in issues related to foreign and security policies; a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working with think tanks, academic institutions, or government bodies; a proven track record of publications; have strong research and organizational skills, the ability to work on flexible deadlines, and the capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously; be able to work independently as well as part of a team; and have a demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders within and outside the team.

Please apply via the Carnegie Endowment / Carnegie India website. Only qualified and shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interviews. When applying, you must include a cover letter, preferably one page, specifying your relevant skills and earliest possible start date; resume (up to 2 pages); a list of relevant published works; and a writing sample (maximum 800 words).
