Term: 1 year from the date of appointment (This position is subject to renewal depending on performance
and funding).
Position Overview:
The Youth Engagement Head (YEH) will lead the strategic implementation of GOYN’s Youth Engagement
Strategy across Pune (PMC & PCMC) and Bhubaneswar & Cuttack (Odisha), fostering inclusive, youth-led
pathways for Opportunity Youth (ages 15–35) to actively participate in shaping local solutions. The role
emphasizes informal, experiential learning and leadership development through direct engagement with
youth, youth groups, educational institutions, and community platforms. The YEL will anchor two flagship
components, Youth Advisory Group (YAG) and Youth Innovation Fund (YIF) to elevate youth voice, agency,
and innovation. This position will also oversee a team of 4-5 Youth Engagement Coordinators across both
geographies, ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable engagement of structurally excluded youth
communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Youth Engagement Strategy & Program Design
● Head the design, delivery, and promotion of GOYN’s youth engagement strategy across Pune and
Odisha, with a focus on informal learning, leadership, and community-rooted action.
● Develop and implement youth engagement programs aligned with the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), embedding co-creation and youth voice at the core.
● Identify and activate diverse engagement channels including youth clubs, universities,
competitions, and digital platforms.
Youth Advisory Group (YAG) & Youth Innovation Fund (YIF)
● Anchor the Youth Advisory Group (YAG) in both Pune and Odisha—recruiting, mentoring, and
facilitating regular sessions to ensure youth perspectives shape GOYN’s strategy and programming.
● Travel to Odisha as needed to support and drive YAG activities, ensuring regional representation
and inclusion.
● Manage the Youth Innovation Fund (YIF) process—outreach, proposal support, selection,
mentorship, and impact tracking of youth-led projects.
● Monitor and evaluate YIF initiatives, capturing learnings and success stories.
Community Identification & Youth Development
● Map and engage communities across Pune to identify and connect with Opportunity Youth (ages
15–35).
● Build relationships with community leaders, parents, and local influencers to foster awareness and
trust.
● Develop personalized youth development plans and facilitate group workshops on skill-building,
goal setting, and career awareness.
Capacity Building & Internal Collaboration
● Design and deliver training sessions for field staff, YAG members, and YIF grantees to strengthen
facilitation, leadership, and storytelling skills.
● Work across internal teams to align youth engagement efforts with broader program goals and
outreach campaigns.
● Support the implementation of youth-led events, campaigns, and innovation showcases.
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
● Build and nurture partnerships with youth-serving organizations, NGOs, educational institutions,
and civic bodies.
● Represent GOYN in global, national, and state-level youth forums—sharing updates, insights, and
feedback.
● Promote YAG and YIF through strategic partnerships, storytelling, and public engagement.
Data, Documentation & Learning
● Maintain accurate records of youth engagement activities, development plans, and program
outcomes.
● Prepare regular reports and presentations for internal teams and external stakeholders.
● Document success stories, case studies, and youth-led innovations for learning and visibility.
Qualifications and Experience:
● MSW/Master’s degree in youth work or community organization/youth empowerment,
entrepreneurships, livelihoods.
● Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
● Willingness to travel to different locations (Slums/Communities) of Pune.
● 8-10 years of experience of developing and delivering engaging youth engagement opportunities,
following best practice and adopting methods of co-production.
● 4-5 years of experience of working with diverse groups of young people, with differing interests and
needs.
● Understanding of sensitive use of language and imagery.
● Ability to take on feedback, internally and externally to the organisation.
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to deal with a
diverse range of people.
● Excellent organisational, attention to detail and forward planning skills.
● Experience of implementing organisational administrative policies and procedures.
● Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
● She/he should know Marathi language (Compulsory)
