Job Title- Project Coordinator for the THRIVE Project Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan The Addictions and related-Research Group (ARG) at Sangath, is inviting applications for a Project Coordinator position for its Transformative Health and Recovery Initiative through Valuable Economic Aid (THRIVE) project. Sangath is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation headquartered in Goa, with hubs in New Delhi, Bhopal and Pune. Sangath has more than two decades of experience in conducting high quality community-based research in child development, adolescent and youth health, adult mental health, ageing and chronic diseases, addictions as well as in health equity. Sangath has won the prestigious MacArthur Foundation International Prize for Creative and Effective Institutions (2008), the WHO Public Health Champion Award (2016) and was recognized as India’s 4th leading public health research institute by Research Councils UK (2015). The ARG based at Sangath is focused on building evidence for affordable and effective interventions for a range of substance use and related problems (e.g., domestic violence, depression). The evidence-based interventions aim to ultimately inform research, policy and practice and/or for scale up through sustainable health and community systems. About the project The THRIVE project is focused on the evaluation of a direct cash transfers program through a randomised controlled trial with patients with clinically relevant depression. All participants of both treatment arms will receive an evidence-based psychological intervention (the Healthy Activity Program) and stepped up to medication in case of nonresponse. Patients in the intervention arm will additionally receive monthly unconditional cash transfers over six months. The combination of cash transfers with evidence-based mental health care, the inclusion of adults with severe depression and the simultaneous assessment of clinical, functional, social and economic outcomes is highly innovative and likely to yield impactful results. The THRIVE project will be jointly led by Sangath, the Centre for Mental Health Law and Policy, Pune, India and the University Hospital of Psychiatry in Bern, Switzerland.
Job Profile:
• Develop project plans, timelines, research protocols and tools. • Plan, oversee and monitor daily program activities and operational delivery of the research activities. • Engage in and monitor data collection, support synthesis and analyses of data. • Supervise the field team. • Support and engage respective leads across all the work streams within the trial. • Identify capacity building gaps and support the building/strengthening of the field teams. • Support the Investigator Group in delivering the academic and other outputs of the research program. • Contribute to research outputs including as a lead author on peer-reviewed publications. • Coordinate internal and external committees/groups around core trial functions from administration to ethics, data safety and management. • Build relevant networks at the field site. • Actively contribute to the activities of the ARG and Sangath.
Before applying, candidates must consider the following eligibility criteria: Essential Criteria
• Master’s degree or PhD in Public Health/Sustainable Development/Humanities. • 2-5 years’ relevant experience of coordinating public health (preferably mental health) research/programs. • Experience with supervising/ leading field teams. • Contribution to peer-reviewed written outputs. • Verbal and written fluency in English and verbal fluency in Hindi. • Familiarity with relevant software (e.g. MS Office, Excel). • Experience of data collection. Desirable Criteria • Previous experience of working on a randomized controlled trial. • Experience of working with analytical software such as NVivo, Stata etc. • Experience of budget management. Salary: INR 70,000-100,000 based on experience
