WELL Labs is seeking a highly motivated planner/architect/civil engineer/water resources engineer/ individual with experience/interest in a related field to serve as a Field Associate in the Urban Water Programme.

Position Overview

This person would engage in carrying out surveys and site visits primarily in the areas of urban wastewater and sanitation in Chennai. This is an exciting opportunity for impact-oriented individuals to work in a dynamic work environment and contribute towards improving urban sanitation and wastewater management.

Job Location: Chennai

Period of Engagement: 6 months

Responsibilities

Assist in the design and implementation of primary survey tools.

Conduct fieldwork activities such as site visits, surveys, etc.

Collaborate with team members to interpret research findings.

Assist in carrying out primary and secondary research for the urban water programme. e.g., analysing water, sanitation, and wastewater challenges in Chennai.

Support in organising and conducting project-related workshops.

Qualifications, Experience and Eligibility

1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related stream with 1-2 years of experience.
2. Prior experience in conducting fieldwork and surveys in urban areas will be an added advantage.
3. Can conduct fieldwork independently.
4. Knowledge of urban sanitation and wastewater systems in Chennai.
5. Excellent verbal communication skills.
6. Communication skills in Tamil is essential.
7. Willingness to travel for projects as and when required.
8. Knowledge of data analysis tools is preferable.
