About the Organization

Founded in 2007, the Centre for Mental Health Law & Policy (CMHLP) is based in Pune at the Indian Law Society (ILS). ILS, our parent body, is a not-for-profit that was established as a charitable society in 1923.

Our mission is to strengthen and transform the mental health of our communities to be holistic and responsive in addressing individual and collective well-being.

About the project:

This project will focus on developing a scalable and sustainable peer support intervention for mental health and suicide prevention for young people in higher educational institutions in Raipur, Chhattisgarh which will be delivered by college student volunteers (peers).

Job Responsibilities

• Support the team with desk research
• Develop training and outreach materials on peer support and suicide prevention for young people
• Conduct capacity building workshops and activities to train youth volunteers as peer supporters
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to facilitate project implementation
• Collect, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data collected from different sources for monitoring and evaluating program outcomes and impact
• Develop partnerships and linkages with civil society organisations, higher educational institutes and other stakeholders
• Support in documentation and dissemination of project activities

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• Master’s degree in psychology, mental health or social work
• 1-2 years of experience in research and/or capacity building in the fields of mental health, suicide prevention and other related fields
• Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods
• Experience in facilitating trainings and/or capacity building workshops
• Strong report writing and presentation skills
• Ensures close attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and team management skills
• Can communicate effectively in English & Hindi
• Willingness to travel within Raipur to liaise with local stakeholders

Desirable

• Experience of working with young persons and/or government systems
