Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and highly driven Program Lead to oversee and manage the implementation of key education reform initiatives in Tamil Nadu. The Program Lead will be responsible for strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with government departments, officials, and non-state partners to ensure the successful execution of transformative education programs. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of public education in Tamil Nadu, driving systemic change and improving student learning outcomes across the state.

TEA has collaborated with the Department of School Education & Samagra Shiksha, Tamil Nadu to set up a Project Management Unit (PMU) focused on driving system reform initiatives in Tamil Nadu education sector. The system reform initiatives include Spoken English (Mozhigal), Teacher Professional Development, Ilam Thedi Kalvi (ITK) etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Leadership and Management:
  •  
    • Lead the overall planning, execution, and monitoring of the state reform programmes ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
    • Provide strategic direction and guidance to project teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
    • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement:
  •  
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, educational institutions, community organizations, and parents.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring project outcomes are aligned with their requirements.
  1. Strategic Planning:
  •  
    • Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans for the school education department, aligning project objectives with broader educational and societal goals.
    • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and continuous improvement within the project.
  1. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  •  
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project success and monitor progress against these indicators.
    • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting project achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
  1. Team Leadership and Development:
  •  
    • Manage diverse professionals, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, promoting their professional growth and development.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 6-8 years of work experience in consulting/government/education sectors
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), experience in documentation, writing reports, proposals, and presentation skills
  • Strong experience of managing teams is necessary.
  • Analytically strong, with an ability to understand, work with, and draw insights from data; familiarity with data analysis tools
  • Ability to coordinate between and build relationships with various stakeholders within the government and with partner organizations
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment, and maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate multiple simultaneous projects
  • Strong project management skills – prioritization, setting goals, assessing progress and course-correction
  • Demonstrated commitment to social impact/prior experience working in the social sector
  • Innovative thinker with a strong interest in developing new ideas and championing those initiatives with senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Tamil language (preferred).

 

Salary: 16+ Lakhs per annum
