Organisation summary:
Language and Learning Foundation (LLF) is a non-government organization based out of New Delhi that works towards developing strong foundational skills and abilities of language and literacy among all children and strengthens their ability to think and reason. Founded by the dynamic and passionate, Dr. Dhir Jhingran (Ex-IAS, PhD in Education), LLF believes children’s home languages need to be used formally in the classrooms in the early primary years. Its research and reputation in the early learning space has translated to partnerships with the six state governments and support of other organizations like UNICEF, TATA Trust and Central Square Foundation. LLF presently works with the states of Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Gujarat to implement programs for foundational language and literacy. LLF’s “Learning Improvement Program in Haryana” was awarded the “Best Field Based Initiative in South Asia” at CIES 2019.
About the programs:
The What Works Hub for Global Education is an international partnership dedicated to effectively implementing education reforms at scale, with the goal of enhancing literacy, numeracy, and other essential skills in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This initiative addresses the critical need for governments to understand how to ensure all children learn effectively. While controlled studies have identified what works in education, the challenge now lies in applying these effective approaches broadly, navigating the complexities of politics, competing interests, and contextual nuances.
The What Works Hub is a multi-year collaborative research initiative involving the UK government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Bank, USAID, UNICEF, UNESCO-IIEP, the Learning Generation Initiative, the British Council, and the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford. The Blavatnik School has convened a consortium of over 40 partners, including world-leading academics, grassroots organizations, and governments, with the majority based in LMICs.

Position summary:
The Program Lead will lead and manage the implementation of education reforms at the district level, ensuring the effective application of evidence-based practices to improve foundational learning outcomes. This role involves close collaboration with government officials, educators, and consortium partners to translate research findings into actionable strategies and support the scaling of successful educational interventions. The Program Lead will report to Regional Program Manager.
