Job Description – Part-Time Counsellor, Survivor Support Program Counsel to Secure Justice (CSJ) works on access to justice for children and enhancing child protection systems by integrating a restorative approach. Established in April 2012, today, CSJ’s work spans legal and psychosocial support to child sexual abuse survivors (since 2013), mental health support, restorative and access to justice support for children in conflict with the law, and capacity building of institutional and grassroots child protection stakeholders. We seek a competent individual to work in our Delhi project primarily with children who have been sexually harmed.
Job Status: Part-Time (Two times in a week/ 16 hours commitment in a week ) Job Title: Counsellor- Survivor Support Program Salary: Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with competitive industry standards and relevant work experience. Job Role: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Child & Youth Counselor to provide specialized support for children and young adults who have been sexually harmed. The counselor will play a key role in offering trauma-informed counselling, supporting survivors in their healing journey, and facilitating a support group for young adults. This position requires strong collaboration with team members for referrals, flexible counselling approaches based on individual needs, and expertise in working with trauma and abuse survivors.
Location: Based in Delhi, with travel to project locations when required
Responsibilities- Counselor- Survivor Support Program
• Provide individual trauma-informed counselling to children and young adults affected by sexual harm, either in-office or at their homes
. • Use evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to the developmental needs of clients.
• Create a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for clients to share their experiences and work towards healing.
• Engage with internal team members for client referrals and coordinated care.
• Maintain confidential and accurate records of client interactions and progress, following ethical and legal guidelines
. • Advocate for clients’ needs by working closely with child welfare agencies, legal systems, and other support organizations.
• Develop and facilitate a support group in collaboration with social workers in survivor support team for young adults who have experienced sexual harm.
• Create a structured yet flexible group curriculum that fosters peer support, resilience, and coping skills.
• Ensure a trauma-sensitive group environment, promoting empowerment and mutual respect.
• Provide guidance to caregivers and families on supporting children and young adults who have experienced sexual harm.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and community outreach programs to enhance service delivery and awareness.
• Stay informed on best practices, emerging research, and policies related to sexual harm recovery and trauma therapy.
Requirements
• 1- 3 years experience working in the child protection sector; • Postgraduate degree in counselling • Understanding of child rights and laws in India; • Demonstrated commitment to vulnerable sections of society; • Strong ability to build trust with vulnerable clients and their families. • Excellent communication, active listening, and crisis intervention skills. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse and multidisciplinary team. • Flexibility to provide counselling sessions in different settings (office, home visits, or virtual as needed). • Knowledge of child protection laws, ethical counselling guidelines, and confidentiality standards. • Proficiency in MS Office; • Excellent time-management and organizational skills; Proficient in verbal and written English and Hindi; • Detail-oriented and efficient; Candidates from underrepresented and marginalised communities are encouraged to apply.
