Media & Communications Associate, REACH

REACH is a non-profit organisation working on Tuberculosis and Non-Communicable Diseases, headquartered in Chennai. Established in 1999, REACH is currently implementing multiple projects across the country.
REACH is looking to recruit a Media & Communications Associate for the organisation, who will work closely with the management and various teams, across all projects. The Associate will be responsible for day-to-day coordination of all internal and external communications for the organisation. This is an ideal position for a media or communications graduate with excellent verbal and written communication skills and an interest in public health.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Support media engagement activities on various public health issues including coordinating REACH’s flagship pan-India Media Fellowship programme
- Handle all internal and external communications at REACH including development of mailers, background materials, annual reports and other publications
- Develop and design in-house, on a regular basis, short publications, posters, social media content, short films and other educational materials on TB and NCDs for different projects and audiences
- Develop and manage content and updates for websites and various social media channels
- Work in close coordination with all project teams, across the organisation, to identify potential areas to be highlighted through various platforms
- Coordinate with external designers, agencies and production houses as required
- Draft press releases and follow-up with the media
- Support with any other relevant communications work
Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:
- University degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies or related field
- Minimum 1-3 years relevant professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media or interactive digital media preferred
- Basic understanding of or willingness to learn about public health in India
- Knowledge of and ability to manage social media platforms essential
- Exceptional writing skills in English essential, with an ability to generate high-quality first drafts
- Ability to speak Hindi fluently essential; knowledge of Tamil an asset
- Knowledge of and ability to use design software such as Canva, Photoshop etc essential
- Knowledge of and ability to use video editing software desirable
- Ability to effectively manage relationships and liaise with journalists and other media representatives
- High ethical standards and transparent working style
- Willingness to travel across India
