About us
Lighthouse Communities Foundation works in the area of skilling and livelihoods for underserved youth. This
is a pioneering program with a strong PPP model, an agency-led approach to livelihoods, and a vision of
socio-economic transformation. The Lighthouses are run through a public-private partnership that empowers
the Government, Corporates, NGOs, and Citizens to work together towards changing lives. The provision of
location and capital expenditure for the Lighthouse centers is taken care of by the Government. Corporates
contribute through CSR funds to provide operational expenses. NGOs come on board to provide various
skilling courses to the youth. With penetration in more than 400 of the 500-odd slum communities of Pune,
the program has now expanded to other cities, viz. PCMC, Dombivali, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nagpur and also
States/UTs viz. Delhi, Odisha, and Hyderabad.

About the Program:
Goal of the project: Adolescents equipped with the ability to make informed life choices. Such children will
have subject knowledge, self-learning skills, creativity and “agency” - an ability to engage with the world as
children today and for their livelihood tomorrow.
The Social and Emotional Learning program for adolescents focuses on challenges faced by them as they are
learning to handle new demands in their academic and social life while dealing with new, intense emotions
(both positive and negative). Lighthouse Kiran aims to create an environment in which individuals feel
secure, have a sense of well-being and are empowered to drive their own learning. Educational attainment
will help them develop their core competencies, build agency, decrease drop out rate and increase their
focus on livelihood.
Reporting To: Program Coordinator
About the Role :
The Facilitator & Counselor would play an important role in building agency of adolescents (age group of
15-18 years) i.e. the ability to make informed life decisions. They would be responsible for building
meaningful relationships with the adolescents to influence their emotional, social and mental wellbeing.
S/he will be responsible for implementation of the Lighthouse Kiran (program for 15 to 18 age group) in
either colleges or at specific Lighthouse Connect centers in the city.
The ideal candidate would be someone who is motivated and passionate in working with the underprivileged
communities and invested in their betterment, has experience in career counseling and conducting
workshops/courses on life skills and soft skills.

Roles and responsibilities:
● Facilitate the Lighthouse Kiran program for the new students.
● Make sure that each student completes the Lighthouse Kiran program as designed and that their
attendance is complete.
● Ensure that all the students enrolled in Lighthouse Kiran program use the Social and Emotional Learning
Chatbot to build their social and emotional skills.
● Conduct baseline and endline internal assessment with every student to understand the shift in the
competencies.
● Supporting the rest of the team members as and when required.
Preferred Skill sets, Years of Experience, Professional Background:
● BA/MA in Psychology/Counseling/Training or Post Graduation in any field, with 2-4 years of experience
preferably in Counseling
● Ability to conduct a batch of 25 to 30 students.
● To be able to focus on the self-transformation of the students through facilitation
● Ability to counsel the students appropriately which will enable them to take the right decision towards
their careers
● Strong and empathetic behavior
● Ability to build a strong cultural system and be a role model for the youth/students
● Commitment towards the upliftment of the youth and city transformation
● Strong verbal and written communication skills in Regional Language,Hindi and English
● Immediate joiners preferred.
