About Sangath Sangath is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization headquartered in Goa, with hubs in New Delhi, Bhopal and Pune. Sangath is in its 27th Year of existence and has experience conducting high quality community-based research in child development, adolescent and youth health, adult mental health, ageing and chronic diseases and addictions as well as in health equality. Sangath has won the prestigious MacArthur Foundation International Prize for Creative and Effective Institutions (2008), was recognized as India’s 4th leading public health research institute by Research Councils UK (2015) and won the WHO Public Health Champion Award (2016). The Addictions and Related Research Group based in Sangath is focused on building evidence for affordable and effective interventions for substance-use related disorders, to ultimately inform scale up through sustainable health systems. About the project MeWeSports aims to reduce the onset and burden of substance use and misuse in adolescents by enhancing their mental health and life skills through the use of community sports. The program will be delivered in mixed rural-urban settings in Goa and rural settings in Odisha Key Responsibilities • Get trained to become a youth champion and deliver the MeWeSports program to school going students, supported and supervised by the MeWeSports team. • Monitor the performance of the students and provide appropriate guidance and support wherever needed. • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the program. • Maintain a good rapport with the project team and the students. Before applying, candidates must consider the eligibility criteria: Qualifications and Experience Essential: ● Minimum 10+2 level of education in any discipline ● Below 35 years of age ● Should be based in Goa/open to move to Goa immediately ● Should be able to travel independently for training and intervention activities ● Strong interpersonal and communication skills ● Familiarity with the local community and its context ● Interest in sports, social work, youth mental health, community engagement and working with children/adolescents ● Basic English literacy (ability to read, write and understand spoken English) Desirable: ● Background and/or relevant experience in the field of education (including special education/physical education etc), psychology, social work, sports and related fields, and working with children in any capacity. ● Fluency with local languages (Marathi, Hindi and Konkani) - spoken Remuneration and Contractual Duration The remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with Sangath’s salary policy. The position includes a six-month probation period, with the possibility of extending for an additional year based on performance.
