The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) is seeking a meticulous and experienced Communications Associate with a strong background in publishing to join our Communications team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and consistency of our research publications, including working papers, discussion papers, reports and policy briefs. This role requires exceptional editing skills, a deep understanding of academic and policy writing, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and proofread a variety of research outputs, including policy papers, reports, and other publications, ensuring accuracy, readability, and adherence to internal style guides.
  • Collaborate with our editors to ensure accurate editing, timely delivery of papers and consistency of formatting, editing and citation across publications.
  • Manage editorial workflows and coordinate with authors to meet publication deadlines.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating editorial style guides and templates.
  • Support the development of editorial best practices across the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in publishing, editing, or communications—preferably in a research, academic, or policy environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in copyediting and proofreading complex written content, ideally including experience with APA style.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a think tank, academic press, or public policy setting.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and document management systems.
